Two things determine whether a self-adhesive label performs: die-cut accuracy and adhesive selection. A die that drifts by a fraction of a millimetre across a sheet produces labels that print off-register in a laser printer, and the fault is invisible until the customer runs a batch. Adhesive is the choice most often made by default rather than by decision. Permanent acrylic is the right answer for shipping and archive use; removable is essential for anything applied to equipment, files or surfaces that will be reused. Specifying the wrong one is the single most common cause of label complaints, and it is entirely avoidable at sourcing stage.
